Bicyclist Hospitalized After Shrewsbury Crash

The crash happened Sunday afternoon.

A 58-year-old Shrewsbury man is hospitalized at UMass Memorial after his bicycle collided Sunday afternoon with a small SUV on Main Street.

Police released the following information:

On Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at 2:23 p.m. Shrewsbury Police responded to Main Street at Main Circle for a report of motor vehicle accident involving a bicyclist. Shrewsbury Police, Shrewsbury Fire Department and University Of Mass EMS responded. Upon arrival emergency units treated the injured bicyclist who was transported to University Of Massachusetts Hospital in Worcester. The bicycle operator is identified as David Roy, 58, of Shrewsbury. He remains hospitalized at U-Mass. The vehicle, a 2010 Honda CRV was operated by Suresh Srinivasan, 47, of Shrewsbury. The motor vehicle was traveling West on Main Street when it attempted to take a left turn onto Main Circle. The bicyclist was traveling East on Main Street when they collided. Shrewsbury Police investigated at the scene for approximately two Hours. The accident remains under investigation by Officer Patricia Babin and Sergeant Michael A. O’Connor of the Shrewsbury Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.
