Shrewsbury Man Pleads Guilty to Sex Tourism

The man will spend at least five years in jail as part of his plea deal.

Today in U.S. District Court Conrad Gallant, 61, pleaded guilty of traveling to the Dominican Republic to engage in illicit sexual conduct.

According to a press release from United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz's office Gallant will face 60 to 168 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release as part of his plea deal.

"According to the agreed statement of facts, Gallant traveled to the Dominican Republic in February 2011 and had sexual relations in his apartment with a 14-year-old girl he knew was underage," the release said.

The release also said that Gallant traveled to the Dominican Republic four more times after the initial incident to engage in sexual relations with the girl and gave her money, a laptop and jewelry.

"The victim was forensically interviewed by a medical professional and she confirmed that Gallant engaged in sex with her," the release said. "She provided agents with a cell phone containing images Gallant naked, including an image of Gallant and the victim engaged in sexual activity."

During a search of Gallant's Shrewsbury residence in March 2012, federal agents recovered images of Gallant and the victim engaging in sexual activity.

A later search of his Dominican Republic apartment led to the seizure of a laptop containing child pornography including the images that had previously been seen.
