HYPE9 Volunteers at Food Bank

The group held its latest Community Connection on Friday.

Members of the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce's HYPE9 group volunteered at the Worcester County Food Bank on Route 9 in Shrewsbury on Friday. The event was the latest Community Connection program for HYPE9, which is open to ages 21 to 40. The chamber includes businesses in Westborough, Shrewsbury, Northborough and Southborough.

Commerce Collects Food for Worcester County Food Bank

Offices throughout Central Massachusetts are collecting food for Worcester County Food Bank.

VIDEO: Lt. Gov. Tim Murray Visits Worcester County Food Bank

Lt. Gov. Tim Murray speaks about the fight to end hunger.

During the 11th Annual Partner Agency Conference, Lt. Gov. Tim Murray spoke about the collaboration between local and state agencies to help end hunger throughout the state. Murray said it is important for the agencies to work together and collaborate with local farmers to continue to feed people locally. "Worcester County has the most farms in the state," he said. Through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), healthier food options are accessible to those in need. "The SNAP program continues to grow and it has been a huge success across the state," Murray said. Stop & Shop Donates Turkeys

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Stop & Shop donated 1,000 turkeys to the Worcester County Food Bank.

As part of its Turkey Express Program, Stop & Shop store management team associates kick off the holiday giving season today with the delivery of 1,000 turkeys to the Worcester County Food Bank in Shrewsbury. The turkeys will aid more than 83,000 families relying on the food bank to help meet their basic food needs. Stop & Shop is donating 20,000 turkeys to hunger relief organizations and families throughout the Northeast between now and Thanksgiving.
