b.good Brings Local Ingredients Home to the Family

The restaurant opened at White City Shopping Center in March and the owner says business immediately took off.

There are a lot of places to get a burger and fries in Shrewsbury, but b.good Shrewsbury owner John Freeley says there is something that sets the new fast food joint at White City Shopping Center apart. "We use locally sourced ingredients in all of our food," Freeley said. "It's how we eat when we're not at work and now we can share that with the community here in Shrewsbury." But that's not all, Freeley says because of the nearby Planet Fitness healthy eaters flock to the restaurant before and after their workouts. "The other restaurants in the area didn't worry me when I was looking at this location, the area is big enough and we are different enough that we will stand apart because the quality of our food and the family atmosphere," …

Update: Woman Arrested After Driving Into Shrewsbury Officer

Late yesterday morning an officer attempted to stop the operator for operating erratically on Route 9.

The Shrewsbury Police Department has arrested a woman that allegedly attempted to run down an officer that stopped her for erratic driving. According to a press release from the department, a traffic officer first saw the vehicle near White City Shopping Center at 11:40 a.m. “Officer Lawrence Napolitano approached the motor vehicle on Route 9 and the operator was not cooperative. The suspect vehicle then fled the stop and made contact with the Shrewsbury officer,” the release said. Later in the day an officer saw the vehicle on Main Street near Carlton Street and attempted to stop the vehicle. “Shrewsbury Police deployed 'stop sticks' at this time and the vehicle came to a stop a short distance later. Dumpster Fire Occurs at 12:25

The incident happened at White City this morning.

A 911 call at 12:25 a.m. delivered a fire truck to the White City Shopping Center on Route 9 this morning. Three Dumpsters were on fire behind the section of stores that includes Panera Bread and Dollar Forever, Shrewsbury Fire Capt. Bruce Card said. The fires were contained to the Dumpsters, which are eight to 10 feet away from the shops, Card said. One of the shops' employees reported the incident as an outside fire, he said. Firefighters left the scene at 1:30 a.m., he said.

White City Redevelopment Nearly Complete

The new owners are nearing completion of the White City Shopping Center on Route 9.

After two years of work, Charter Realty and Development is nearing the final stages of completely revitalizing the White City Shopping Center. According to Paul Brandes, the landlord of the plaza, development started on the west side of the plaza bordering Lake Quinsigamond and the work on that was completed earlier this year. More Recently, Brandes and his associates tackled the East Side. “We’ve created something the shopping center has never had, fresh new landscaping, sidewalks and lighting. It used to just be a sea of asphalt without a single plant and today it’s a modern shopping center,” Brandes said. New Grocery Stores Eyeing White City Location

As the parent company for Shaw's closes stores new retailers look to move in to Shrewsbury.

Since White City Shopping Center was bought two years ago, many things have changed. There are new restaurants, new parking lots and even new trees. One thing that has remained constant, however, is the Shaw's grocery store located in the west half of the plaza. According to Paul Brandes, the landlord of the shopping center, several that may all change now that the parent company for Shaw's, Supervalu, is closing many stores. “We have Shaw’s in there right now, but based on what I’ve read the whole chain is up for sale.
