Child in Custody After Mom's Second Drunk Driving Charge

A two-year old is in state custody.

After being charged with a second drunk driving offense, a Shrewsbury woman's 2-year-old daughter was taken into state custody, according to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. Gabrielle Moreau, 22, 8 Cottage Ave., was charged with drunken driving, child endangerment while driving drunk, a marked lanes violation and negligent driving. Moreau was stopped by state police after she went off the roadway on I-290.

Drop Off Toys for Toys for Tots at Shoppers World

New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the Framingham Toys 'R Us on Saturday.

As part of our ongoing support of the United States Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots, Massachusetts State Police troopers will be at the following Toys 'R Us locations this Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Massachusetts State Police third annual "Fill the Cruiser" day. Toys 'R Us customers who wish to donate a new, unwrapped toy to the Toys for Tots program can purchase one inside the store and put it into the cruiser on their way out. Traffic Enforcement Ramps Up During Holiday Season

Troopers from all over New England want to help local drivers stay safe and prevent crashes during the holiday season.

The holidays are upon us, and many residents will be traveling this week to see family and friends all across New England. State Police are doing their part to help ensure these visits don't end in tragedy because of impaired or distracted driving. The Massachusetts State Police joined forces with other New England State Police divisions at headquarters in Framingham to explain their C.A.R.E program. Increased patrols this week will be cracking down on impaired/drunk driving, texting while driving and seatbelt law violations, among other things. New Ping4alerts! App Sends Emergency Alerts to MA Residents

The first in the nation emergency alerting application is introduced.

Sobriety Checkpoints This Weekend

The State Police will be monitoring Worcester County Saturday and Sunday.

Submitted by the State Police: Col. Marian J. McGovern, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, announced that a sobriety checkpoint will be implemented by the Massachusetts State Police in Worcester County Saturday, July 14, and Sunday, July 15. The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways in and around Shrewsbury. It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety. State Police Search for Driver in I-290 Crash

The crash took place on Jan. 30 on I-290 west near Exit 23.

The following press release was submitted by the Massachusetts State Police: The Massachusetts State Police are seeking witnesses to, or anyone else with information about, a motor vehicle crash that occurred on the evening of Monday, Jan. 30 on I-290 in Shrewsbury. The crash occurred at 7:36 p.m. on I-290 west, just before Exit 23. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2000 Subaru Legacy that was being operated by a 49-year-old Shrewsbury man went out of control and made contact with a 2005 Acura TSX being operated by a 40-year-old man from Holden.
