Class dismissed! The Ski Ward in Shrewsbury was packed on Tuesday with kids from all around the region hitting the slopes instead of the books this week, as school vacation is just getting warmed up.

The Ski Ward, according to its recent post on Facebook and YouTube, hosted the second of three events in the Eastern Boarder and Boston Ski and Tennis Rail Jam at its mountain. The finals are scheduled for Feb. 9.

Our photo contest this week attracted dozens of photos of skiers (and some snowboarders too!) We could only choose one, however, as the winner of a $25 gift card. All photos uploaded before 5 p.m. yesterday were under consideration to be crowned the winner in Patch's Picture of the Week Contest. A group of Patch employees went to Ski Ward to receive a lesson.
Patch headed to "snow school" at the Ski Ward in Shrewsbury last week, with editor Charlene Arsenault taking some first-ever downhill skiing lessons. Patch the reindeer always wedges his way onto the scene, and did so again this time. Snow School at the Ski Ward employs more than 100 instructors for its ski and snowboard classes. Racing instruction, too, is available. Classes are available for groups, individuals, and all ages. Ski Ward also offers tubing, but you don't need much instruction for that activity.
