A pedestrian was hit on Route 9 on Tuesday evening.
A homeless man was struck during rush-hour traffic on Route 9 in Shrewsbury on Tuesday, according to police. At 5:42 p.m., Shrewsbury police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. The pedestrian and driver were on the scene when officers arrived. Police determined that the pedestrian was crossing Route 9 from the median across the westbound lane when he was struck by a 2005 Subaru Legacy, driven by Joann Carson, 56, from Canton. Carson was not injured. The pedestrian, Joseph Liberty, a 58-year-old homeless man, was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester. Shrewsbury Police and Firefighters are responding to a motor vehicle crash at this busy intersection. Injuries are reported.
Shrewsbury Police have responded to a two-vehicle crash with injury at the intersection of Route 9 and South Street. Injuries were reported, but the extent is not known. Expect delays in traffic.

Earlier today, four people were transported to UMASS after injuries sustained in a crash.
Shrewsbury Police, Fire, EMS responded to a two-car crash and rollover, on Route 9 east just east of Shrewsbury Commons at 12:24 p.m. A 2008 Subaru Forester operated by Antonia Cappuccio, 61, of Jefferson, MA was headed east on Route 9 east, east of Commons Drive, when it was struck by a 1995 Lincoln Continental operated by Mary Iannotti, 84, of Worcester, MA. The Subaru and the Lincoln then struck the center barrier. The Subaru rolled onto its roof coming to rest in the eastbound travel lane, and the Lincoln came to rest off of to the right side of the road. Shrewsbury Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver of the Lincoln from the vehicle, police said. Both operators were injured, and were transported to UMASS Memorial…
