Teams of six competed on Tuesday for a $50 gift card at Shrewsbury's Public Library during its weekly trivia contest. Dan Barbour, the host of the event, asked a range of general knowledge questions to the event's attendees who racked their brains while enjoying some free pizza.
Knitting is rewarding, one teen says.
Several Shrewsbury teens learned a new hobby in recent weeks. Through three weekly one-hour sessions at the Shrewsbury Public Library, participants in the program for teens in grades 8 through 12 learned various basic knitting techniques by creating a bookmark, according to Sharon Martin. Martin is the children's librarian and ran the program, which ended Friday. "It's fantastic," Martin said of knitting. "It relaxes me. I enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to make something work." While the program has ended, Martin said she would like to run another one and that adults have shown interest in learning the hobby as well.
