Weather Be What? 'Confusing .. but Has Potential to Be Disruptive'

Tracking the potential upcoming storm proves difficult for local forecasters.

Update, Tuesday, 9 p.m.: "The modeling guidance continues to defy the surface maps, but is coming in closer agreement with each other and this trend has continued all day," said Jim Arnold, weather specialist. "Therefore, I am going to settle on a mix of guidance and pattern recognition for this event.  It continues to look like the storm center will pass out to sea well to our south, but since the storm is so large; it will impact southern New England with its snow and wind fields. Weather Trending Colder, 'Vigorous Coastal Storm' Tracking Up the Coast

Area weather specialist Jim Arnold gives locals an updated look at the current weather patterns.

It looks like our long awaited pattern change is about to take place, Jim Arnold informed us.  Arnold is weather specialist working with the Shrewsbury Emergency Management Agency, the town of Princeton and the Worcester Emergency Communications and Emergency Management Agency. "We will be trending colder, but not to extreme values over the next few days," said Arnold. "In addition, over the next few days we are likely to see a couple small, nuisance type disturbances sandwiched around a potentially strong coastal storm, impact our area with a variety of winter type precipitation. Storm Will Bring Heavy Rain; Rest of the Month Cold

It won't be another Sandy, but we're looking at another heavy rainstorm in the area.

It'll be a fairly big storm area-wise, and also a powerful storm, but will mostly bring rain, according to weather specialist Jim Arnold from the Shrewsbury Emergency Management Agency. The National Weather Service and other meteorologists are reporting a "significant coastal storm" that shows a mix of rain and snow hitting Shrewsbury on Wednesday and possibly Thursday. Arnold said that the major impacts will stretch from the Delmarva Peninsula to New England, and "that entire area will be raked by very strong winds and heavy precipitation. It will not be as strong as Sandy was and its track will be different so the impacts felt from it will also be different, but nonetheless significant."
