Area Gas Prices Continue To Tumble

New England drivers still paying well above the national average.

As the Christmas travel season approaches, drivers are on the receiving end of some good news relative to gas prices. According to AAA Southern New England, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas (self-serve) dropped another seven cents this past week, to $3.47. The good news is that price is 14 cents lower than a month ago. The bad news is, New England drivers are still paying roughly 13 cents higher than the national average and a full 20 cents higher than the price of gas in December 2011. According to the gas stations surveyed by AAA, prices ranged from $3.33 to $3.75 for unleaded regular self-serve. In Shrewsbury, Flynn's has the lowest price with $3.40. AAA: Gas Prices Down This Week, This Month; But Higher Than A Year Ago

Prices, locally, are down 18 cents over the past month, says AAA.

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down three cents this week, according to AAA Southern New England, which has an office in Framingham, off Route 9. AAA’s Nov. 19 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.58 per gallon, three cents less than last week. Prices locally are down 18 cents over the past month. The current price is 17 cents above the national average for self serve unleaded of $3.41. A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $3.33. The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 40 cents, from a low of $3.45 to a high of $3.85. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle …

Shrewsbury Gas Prices Below State Average

One local gas station has gas prices offers gas as low as $3.56 a gallon.

With grills being fired up across the country to celebrate Memorial Day, many people will be traveling to enjoy family and friends this weekend. A few weeks ago, the price of gas began to drop and has held steady at about $3.71 a gallon, and Flynn's Truck Plaza has gas for as low as $3.56 a gallon today. The price of gas across the state has held steady for the fourth week, according to the WBJ.com. The average price for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline in the state now stands at $3.71, according to AAA Southern New England. Gas Prices Continue to Skyrocket: Whose Fault Is It?

Some analysts have predicted that gas prices could escalate to $5 a gallon by the summer. So who or what are you blaming?

Gas prices are going up, in case you haven't noticed. Even a smaller, more fuel-efficient car costs over $40 smackers to fill these days. And analysts are predicting we haven't seen the worst of it. AAA Southern New England reported, according to the Boston Globe, that regular gas prices have risen another nickel this week, making a jump in price for the 11th consecutive week.
