The statewide driving ban will be lifted as of 4 p.m., the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency posted on its Facebook page. The driving ban was lifted at 1 p.m. for Nantucket and for all communities west of I-91. Residents across the entire state are free to drive after 4. MEMA officials had asked community members to stop calling 911 and their local public safety departments about this topic.

Few vehicles are on the road during the Friday evening commute.
The Friday evening commute on Route 9 in Shrewsbury is about as busy as during the overnight hours. Very few vehicles -- primarily SUVs and plows -- are on the road while the February blizzard continues blanketing the region. This afternoon, Gov. Deval Patrick signed an executive order banning vehicular traffic at 4 p.m.
Here are scenes from the storm's early hours.
Traffic in Shrewsbury remained steady during Nemo's first flakes this morning and early afternoon. Stop & Shop on Route 9 saw customers stocking up for the storm with such supplies as bottled water.
