Men Posing as Town Employees Rob Couple
Two men posing as water department employees robbed a couple on Route 140.
On Thursday, at about 4 p.m. a resident living on Route 140 (near I-290) in Shrewsbury was scammed and as a result cash and jewelry were stolen. Police said the elderly resident was approached at her home by two men at the door who identified themselves as water department employees. The two men entered the home and talked very fast trying to confuse the victims and keep them distracted. As a result one of the men went through the house and searched for valuables. The men then left after the victims began questioning their motives. Police are searching for: 1.)
