15-Year-Old Shrewsbury Boy Dies After Being Stricken Ill

A student at the Learning Center for the Deaf died Tuesday.

Patrick J. Fischetti a 15-year-old boy from Shrewsbury and eighth grade student at the Learning Center for the Deaf in Framingham, died after being stricken at home on Tuesday, March 26. Fischetti is the son of Elizabeth (Rudden) Fischetti of Marlborough and Thomas Fischetti of Shrewsbury. Visiting hours are Monday, April 1, from 4-7 p.m. at Slattery Funeral Home in Marlborough. Shrewsbury Man Dies of Serious Injuries from Car Crash

Arrangements have been made for John Cherwek.

John E. “Jack” Cherwek, 76, of Shrewsbury, died on Feb. 5 due to injuries suffered in a serious car crash on Sunday. He leaves his beloved wife of 54 years, Ruby M. (Benson) Cherwek; his two children, Mark Cherwek and his wife Charleen of Quincy, and Tracy May and her husband Steven of North Grafton; his five grandchildren, 2nd Lt. Joseph May, USAF and his wife Arielle, Sean May, Sydney May, John Cherwek and Katherine Cherwek; his sister, Joyce Mentus of Riverside, RI; and three nieces. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jack’s family on Sunday, Feb. 10 from 3-5 p.m. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, and on Monday, Feb. 11 from 10-11 a.m. in the Bethlehem Bible Church, 307 Lancaster Street (Route 110) West Boylston. Longtime Shrewsbury resident Rita Landry dies at at 95.

Rita M. (King) Landry, age 95, a longtime resident of Shrewsbury, died peacefully Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 in Worcester Rehabilitation and Health Care Center (formerly Radius Healthcare) surrounded by her loving family, as posted on legacy.com. Her beloved husband of 66 years, Leon H. Landry, passed away Nov. 4, 2003. Rita is survived by her two sons, John H. Landry of Maryland and Paul L. Landry and his wife Donna of Sturbridge; three daughters, Carol A Mercurio with whom she lived, Judith E. Laukaitis of Auburn and Joyce M. Lovoie of Dorchester; nineteen grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two sisters, Gladys Kavoogian and Doris Orfalea. Army Lt. Colonel and D-Day Veteran Dies at 89

Calling hours are set for Irving Thomas Shanley.

Irving Thomas Shanley, 89, of Shrewsbury and formerly of Northborough, died on Monday, Dec. 3. Shanley was a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel and D-Day Veteran. He was the loving husband of Florence Louise (Crespi) Shanley, with whom he celebrated sixty-four years of marriage in September. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Henry Charles Shanley and the late Lena Frances (Murphy) Shanley. Calling hours for Colonel Shanley will be held on Thursday, Dec. 6, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.
