White City Improvements Moving Along

On Aug. 11, there will be festivities at the plaza, including sidewalk sales and promotions.

In an attempt to gear up for the upcoming national rowing chamionship, White City Plaza construction is moving forward at full speed. On Saturday, Aug. 11, the Plaza will come together with radio personality Heidi West of WSRS to showcase the new and improved shops offered along the store front and combine with festivities of the National Rowing Championship, said Denise Roshco, a representative from the property landlord, Charter Realty and Development. White City Plaza Improvements Continue

The parking lot is a maze to navigate.

It can be quite difficult to navigate the parking lots at White City Plaza while construction and improvements continue. So when will the project be completed? "White City is expected to complete this phase of the construction by the first week of August in time for the National Masters Rowing Championships that will be held August 9-12 on Lake Quinsigamond," said Kristen Las, town planner. "The scope of the project is widespread between White City East and White City, including a new signal, reconfiguration of driveways and internal circulation." Have you driven through the parking lot? Or are you avoiding it? Let us know in the comments?

"difficult to navigate" that's an understatement, but it is moving along VERY, very quickly. I applaud the property owner for his investment in Shrewsbury.   more ›

What Do You Think of the White City Plaza Construction? [POLL]

With some of the parking lot closed and the sidewalks inaccessible, navigation is tough these days.

With the new Five Guys coming to White City, construction has begun all around the plaza to improve the sidewalks and parking lots. Outdoor seating is being added to the former Mattress Giant store, which will house the new Five Guys restaurant. But that's not the only place outdoor seating will be going. Construction has begun in the area in front of Friendly's, Panera and surrounding stores to increase the depth of the sidewalks to allow for more outdoor seating. The downside? Areas of the parking lot have been closed. What do you think of the construction project? Take our poll and get your voice heard.
