A woman keeps her sister's name alive through a business designed to promote health.
In March, Jackie Fashjian and her husband launched a company that was inspired by Jackie's sister, Judy Borrelli, who lost a courageous battle with breast cancer at age 50. In an article in the Shrewsbury Lantern, Fashjian describes her sister's vision, and how it inspired Embrace Life. As Fashjian explained, Shrewsbury resident Borrelli underwent treatment at the Dana Farber Institute after the cancer quickly spread to her liver and bones, but tried to attack the cancer ... and extend her life ... by embracing an organic diet. The diet, and supplements, extended her life longer than even the experts expected. Borrelli wanted to share her secrets, and help others improve their health, hoping to launch the company Embrace Life. Her sister…

Although some readers may roll their eyes, there are many people who are searching for ways to decrease exposure for themselves, their families and friends. Why? A total of 1,638,910 new cancer cases affecting 9 million people and 577,190 deaths from cancer are projected to occur in the United States in 2012 according to the National Cancer Institute, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the North American Association of Central Cancer …

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations. The 5 things today include: 1. In the town where I was born lived a man who sailed the sea. These lyrics are from the famed "Yellow Submarine by the Beatles; the fab five would be proud that we honor National Submarine Day today. It was created to honor the U.S. Submarine Force, which was founded on this day in 1900. So, watch a movie that features a submarine, visit a local naval museum or if you don't live near water, like we don't in Shrewsbury, enjoy a hero submarine sandwich. It all counts. 2. A Napoleon complex. In 1814, Napoleon was exiled to Elba. After …
