911 Caller Asks to Pay Phone Bill, Traffic Stops on Lake Street

The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, May 21 10:09 a.m.: An officer preserved the peace while a resident retrieved personal items from a residence on Brook Street. 11:49 a.m.: An officer attempted to check a suspicious vehicle on Grafton Street. When the operator saw the officer she left the area. 1:48 p.m.: A 911 caller from Huntington Avenue asked officers about how to pay a phone bill. An officer responded to the address and told the caller how to contact Verizon. 2:05 p.m.: A caller from Topsfield Circle reported a suspicious male going door-to-door. An officer responded and spoke to the solicitor who did not have a permit. 4:30 p.m.: An officer from the Shrewsbury Police Department stopped several vehicles on Lake Street and issued several written warnings and …

Laptop Stolen During Motor Vehicle Break-In at Shrewsbury Commons

The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, May 20 9:08 a.m.: The Animal Control Officer responded to Browning Road after a resident reported an injured bird. 11:25 a.m.: A resident of Shrewsbury Commons reported that his vehicle had been broken into and his laptop was stolen. 3:21 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle on the Route 9 bridge and issued the driver a ticket. 4:45 p.m.: An officer issued several written warnings to vehicles on Lake Street. 6:07 p.m.: A resident of South Quinsigamond reported that her neighbor was shooting a firearm in the area of the lake. Tuesday, May 21 4:37 a.m.: A caller reported a male sleeping in a vehicle on Grafton Street. Officers responded and the man was transported to UMass Medical Center for treatment.

Friday, May 17 8:50 a.m.: A caller from Shrewsbury Commons reported vandalism to their fence and garden. 11:13 a.m.: A resident went in to the Shrewsbury Police Department to report an incident that occurred at a school bus stop on Avalon Way. 7:50 p.m.: Officers served an arrest warrant to Herbert Merrill, 60, of 788 Boston Trnpk., Apt. 3. Saturday, May 18 8:43 a.m.: An officer took a report of a car vs. light post crash on Grafton Street. 10:09 a.m.: Two vehicles were towed after a crash at the intersection of Boston Turnpike and Grafton Street. Thursday, May 16 12:27 p.m.: The Animal Control Officer searched Lakeside Drive after a report od a loose dog. 4:42 p.m.: A Shrewsbury police officer assisted a resident of Balsam Circle after the resident reported a suspicious package. 4:51 p.m.: The Animal Control Officer issued a pet owner on Pond View Drive a citation after a complaint. 11:06 p.m.: A caller reported loud music on Wingate Street. Officers responded and spoke to a resident where the loud music was originating. Woman Arrested for Drunk Driving After Tires 'Totally Shredded'

A Shrewsbury woman was arrested on Oak Street this weekend.

A Shrewsbury woman was arrested for drunken driving after one of her tires was "totally shredded" early Sunday, Westborough Police Chief Alan Gordon said today. Juliana Bacelar, 22, of 6 Waterville Lane, Shrewsbury had pulled over on Oak Street, and told police she "hit something with her tire," Gordon said. Police had responded to Oak at Park streets at 2:01 a.m. for a report of suspicious activity, according to the Westborough Police log. Police charged Bacelar with operating under the influence of liquor (.08 per se).

The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, May 15 12:33 p.m.: The Animal Control Officer spoke to a dog-walker on Lake Street regarding leash laws. 5:26 p.m.: Officers spoke with the operator of a suspicious motor vehicle on Maple Avenue. 5:56 p.m.: A caller reported that she was the victim of a hit and run crash at Tanfabulous Tanning. Thursday, May 16 1:40 a.m.: A 911 caller reported drunk females throwing items at a resident’s window at the Shrewsbury Green Apartment. An officer assisted the females to get back in to their apartment. 2:54 a.m.: A 911 caller from Minuteman Way reported that their burglar alarm had been sounding. Officers responded and checked the residence with the homeowner.

Turtle, Absentee Juror Prompt Police Action

Additionally, one town gave us plenty of fodder for what could have been an entire unusual police news column.

If he had just gone to court the first time, this wouldn't have happened. A Fitchburg man found himself on the wrong side of the bar in Westborough District Court this week when he was arrested for failing to appear for jury duty. When police pulled him over for failing to stop/yield, they found that he was wanted for skipping out on jury duty. No doubt his trip to court as a defendant will be less pleasant—and more expensive—than if he had simply shown up for jury duty. Why did the turtle cross the road? In Shrewsbury, he crossed the road because if he had stayed in the middle of it, he would have continued to block traffic. Man Arrested for Exposing Himself to Motel 6 Guest

Northborough police arrested a man in Shrewsbury on charges of open and gross lewdness.

Northborough police arrested a man at a home in Shrewsbury on Tuesday for an incident at Motel 6, where two days earlier the man allegedly exposed himself to a woman and her daughters, who were staying at the motel. Jeffrey H. Flannery, 55, 39 Reseroir St., Norton, was arrested at a Shrewsbury home at which he was staying, on charges of open and gross lewdness. Officer Phillip Martin says he responded to a call from an employee at Motel 6 on May 13, who relayed a disturbance that had occurred earlier in the day. Flannery, according to employees, had been dropped off at the motel on May 12. On May 13, a report had come in around 2 a.m. of a man who was "banging on the door and using foul language."
