Monday Essentials: Talk Like a Pirate; Robotics Team Plans Comedy Show

Plan your week. Let us help you.

1. There are many events planned for the Shrewsbury Public Library this week, as usual. But Thursday takes the cake with two offerings we think you should consider. In the morning, there's a "Book Beats" session for kids 5 and under. Later, it's "Talk Like a Pirate Day," when you not only talk like a pirate - you'll read books about pirates, make crafts and more, matey.

2. Mark it on your calendar: The Shrewsbury High School Robotics Team is planning a comedy show funraiser for Oct. 5 at Maironis Park. Read more about it on the Shrewsbury Lantern.

3. You've only got one day left this season to drop off brush at the Municipal Garage. Make sure you don't miss it.

4. The Retirement Board meets on Thursday, Sept. 19.

5. Sen. Michael Moore received the Healthy Communities Award from the Family Healthy Center of Worcester, Inc. for being a leader in supporting health efforts in the area.
