Rotary Club Reads to Students

On literacy day last week, members of the Rotary Club read to local schoolchildren.

The following release was submitted by the Shrewsbury Rotary Club:

Literacy Day is a day where the Shrewsbury Rotarians & friends of Rotary take time and read to every second grader in the town’s four .

Rotarians explained to kids what Rotary is all about, read a special book and then give each child a book to take home. The kids are very curious about the people coming to read to them and giving away free books.

They asked questions like ”what does Rotary do?” Rotarians are happy to answer the question and explained that Rotary International is a service organization where the motto is “service above self.” With this idea Rotarians help people in town as well as around the world.
