Shrewsbury Democrats to Caucus, Select Delegates to Democratic State Convention

Democrats in Shrewsbury will caucus on Saturday, March 1st at 10:00 AM at the Shrewsbury Fire Station (11 Church Road) to select delegates to the 2014 Massachusetts Democratic State Convention. Participants will elect 18 delegates and 3 alternates.

The convention will be held on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the DCU Center in Worcester, where Democrats from across Massachusetts will vote to endorse candidates for statewide office. Democratic candidates for statewide office, including Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and State Treasurer must secure the votes of at least 15% of convention delegates in order to earn a place on the September primary ballot.

All registered Democrats in Shrewsbury may run for delegate or vote at the caucus, provided that they were registered as such by January 31st, 2014. Those wishing to run or vote must arrive prior to 10:15, when registration will close. Those not elected as Delegate and/or Alternate at the caucus, but who meet the qualifications, may apply to be add-on delegates in a variety of categories; more information is available at www.MassDems.org.

Any interested member of the public may attend the caucus to observe or learn about the process. For additional caucus information, contact Shrewsbury Democratic Town Committee Chair Jason Palitsch at ShrewsburyDTC@Gmail.com.

The caucus is organized by the Shrewsbury Democratic Town Committee, which is the local Democratic Party entity in Shrewsbury, and functions to support Democratic candidates running for area offices. Anyone interested in becoming involved in the committee may visit its website at www.ShrewsburyDemocrats.org, or contact the Chair via e-mail at ShrewsburyDTC@Gmail.com.
