Would you like to help bring a great work of American literature to life, by being a “Big Read Reader” in Shrewsbury’s third community reading project called The Big Read?

With a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Public Library, Parks and Recreation Department, Council on Aging, Shrewsbury Media Connection (SMC) and the Schools are planning a community-wide reading project focusing on Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Starting in April 2013, there will be a wide range of fun and informative activities for children, teens and adults, all to remind people how great a great story can be!

The library plans to broadcast a taped reading of “Tom Sawyer” on local cable television in the months leading up to the project. Would you consider reading a chapter of “Tom Sawyer” aloud at SMC studios? They will record the reading; combine it with tapings of other volunteers, and produce a full reading of the book for broadcast in February 2013 and later.

Tapings are available by appointment on the following dates, between the hours of 2:00 and 6:00 pm.
