St. Mary's Celebrates Catholic Schools Week

School celebrates "Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service."

St. Mary School in Shrewsbury hosted their annual January Open House and Registration Event on Jan. 26.

This event marked the start of Catholic Schools Week throughout the United States. This year’s theme, “Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service” exemplifies the very essence of what Catholic Schools provide for their students, their families and their communities.

The weeklong celebration began with a Mass followed by the Pasta Festival to recognize the St. Mary Parish and School community. The Open House on Sunday was an opportunity for prospective students and their families to tour the classrooms and to meet Students, Faculty and Alumni. A number of St. Mary’s graduates returned to share how their experiences at St. Mary’s provided them with the solid academic foundation for their high school years at St. John’s, Notre Dame Academy, St. Peter Marian, and Shrewsbury High School.

The week continues with daily events to recognize and thank many of the individuals who serve St.  Mary’s by providing their time and talent. Themes for the week include: Our Nation, Our Community, Our Students, Our Parents and Our Teachers. The week’s events culminate on Saturday with the Gatsby Gala, an evening of dinner, dancing, games and silent auction bids at Highfields in Grafton.
