Workshop for young writers to be held at Saint John’s

On March 1, 2014, the 24th Annual Betty Curtis Worcester County Young Writers’ Conference will be held at Saint John’s High School in Shrewsbury. The conference is open to all students in grades 7-12 with an interest in creative writing.

The conference is a one-day event during which about 100 students attend workshops and readings and spend time writing in a supportive environment. Students attend several small and large group sessions, choosing from poetry, fiction, non-fiction, and playwriting. Aspiring teen writers will spend the day working in seminar settings with professional local writers, poets, and professors.

Students will hear from keynote speaker and local author Juliette Fay. Fay is the author of several novels, including Shelter Me, Deep Down True, and most recently, The Shortest Way Home. The keynote address will begin at 4:00 and is free and open to the public. Learn more about this year’s speaker at juliettefay.com.
