Water System Improvements, Library Design on Town Meeting Warrant

Shrewsbury voters will be gathering on Oct. 30 to vote on 14 articles.

Last week, Town Manager Daniel Morgado sent a letter to residents outlining the 14 town meeting articles. In his letter Morgado explained each article; the full letter can be found on the town's website.

Town Meeting Warrant:

Article 1: To sign a 25-year Lease for the land the Shrewsbury Youth Soccer fields are on Lake Street.

Article 2: $400,000 appropriation for water system improvements.

Article 3: $25,000 transfer for water conservation efforts.

Article 4: $19,000 appropriation for principal payment for water system improvements.

Article 5: $24,000 transfer for water system improvements fund.

Article 6: Reduce debt services by $53,000 that was appropriated for Sherwood Middle project and is not needed.

Article 7: Raise any remaining tax-levy capacity to fund post employment benefits. (Currently no available capacity).

Article 8: $989,144 authorization for state funds for road improvements.

Article 9: Allow for Wheelabrator-Millbury Inc. to install solar panels on old landfill space.

Article 10: Adjust terminology in the dog control laws to read "leash" instead of "restraint device."

Article 11: $3,500 expenditure for landscaping and plantings on Route 9 from the Worcester line to Oak Street.

Article 12: Rescind $600,000 bond that was to be used on Sherwood Middle improvements.

Article 13: Easement authorization at Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union on Lake Street for future intersection improvements.

Article 14: $50,000 transfer from the library building repairs fund in case it is needed for design of the library renovation.
