Pick Up a Book, Pass It Around

Community readers share their favorite books.

Celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday March 2 by joining book lovers and your local school or public library for Read Across America day.

The  has already kicked off its annual Community Reading Day this morning with readers from around the town. Schools and libraries all over the state are participating.

State and town officials enjoyed sharing a book with students throughout the school from grades kindergarten to fourth grade. Many read The Lorax, which will be out in theaters later this week. Other activities throughout the school included arts and crafts, writing stories and making Dr. Seuss hats.

This year, the National Education Association, a group of more than 3.2 million educators who work to improve public schools, is calling on book lovers around the nation to take up The Lorax, the popular Dr. Seuss children's book published in 1971 about the lovable creature who fights to save the environment.
