Col. John Collins Assumes Position as Army's Top Medical Job in Europe

Shrewsbury colonel assumes a new position in the U.S. Army.

Col. John P. Collins of Shrewsbury was recently named interim commander of the Europe Regional Medical Command (ERMC), at which he previously served as chief of staff, reported the Community Advocate.

According to Stripes.com, the position was an unexpected move and one that was "created by maneuvering in Washington."

Collins has four graduate degrees, and assignments included tours in Belgium, Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Prudential Healthcare in Florida, said the Advocate, which added that Collins is married to Col. Nancy Hughes, an Army nurse and is the son of Dr. John Collins of Shrewsbury and the brother of Patrick A. Collins, who is the the superintendent at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School.
