UPDATED: Teen Dies from Head Injury after Skiing Accident

The 19-year-old was from Upton.

The Worcester County District Attorney's Office reported a 19-year-old from Upton died after he fell from a chair lift.

"The boy fell from the lift to the icy ground and was found there face down and unconscious," said Tim Connolly, spokesperson for Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr. "The name of the teenager will not be released at this time."

Connolly said the teen was a member of the Nipmuc Regional High School ski team and was taken to UMass after the fall.

Capt. Mark Mann said a male teenager fell about 30 feet from the ski lift at about 6:45 p.m. and sustained a head injury.

"He was unconscious and he was taken to UMass by Worcester City Ambulance while CPR was administered," Mann said.

Police and Shrewsbury firefighters responded to and police were asking witnesses what may have happened.

The Worcester County District Attorney's Office and the Shrewsbury Police are investigating the incident.
