Both women were from New York City.

Editor's Note: The following information was provided by New York State Police:

At approximately 12:35 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2013, a 2010 Honda Civic, operated by Ellen Rann, 70 years of age from Queens, NY, was traveling northbound on Interstate-684 in the Town of Lewisboro when for unknown reasons she veered out of the center lane, crossed into the slow lane, continued onto the shoulder then onto the grassy area of the highway striking a tree head on.

The operator, Rann, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Westchester EMS.

The passenger, a 57 year old female from Manhattan, NY, was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased by the medical staff.

Ok, I see now that it is the police report, that uses jargon to look technical.

Sounds like she had a heart attack as the operator of the motor vehicle.....

Why does that bother you? What do you mean "I understand that police reports need to use jargon to look technical"? "Look technical", what the heck are you talking about? That's the way all reports have to be submitted for both Police and Medical examiners. Again, why does that bother you?
