Three Worcester Men Charged With Possessing Guns, Tasers

Three men from Worcester are facing weapons charges.

Three Worcester men are facing weapons violations after routine stop last week in Shrewsbury. 

Xavier Cruz, 26, 219 Constitution Ave., and Luis A. Ortiz, 20, 284 Constitution Ave., both from Worcester, were arrested and charged with possessing an electric stun gun, carrying a firearm without a license, defacing a firearm serial number, carrying a loaded firearm. Elias Cruz, 46, 1502 Main St., Worcester also faces similar charges, as well as a charge of "career criminal act." 

The three men were stopped shortly after midnight on Wednesday, June 26, on Clinton Street in Shrewsbury, where their minivan was pulled over by police. Cruz was driving without a license, and police also discovered a loaded semi-automatic 9mm handgun and an electric taser inside the van. The serial number on the handgun was defaced, said police. 

They were held at the Shrewsbury Police Station until their arraignment at Westborough District Court later that morning.
