Investigation Reveals Skier May Have Had Seizure

An Upton teen died after falling from the ski lift at Ski Ward.

The Upton teen who died last night after falling from a ski lift at the , has been identified as John "Jack" Street, 18, of 5 Kensington Ln., Upton, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

The preliminary investigation shows Street was training with teammates from the Nipmuc Regional High School ski team when he may have suffered a seizure while riding up the hill on a ski lift.

Street fell from the lift and landed face down on the icy ground below. Police received a 911 call at 6:43 p.m.

Street was taken to the UMass Medical Center in Worcester where he died at 7:24 p.m.

The family declined to comment, but said that he was known as Jack.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. The Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to Worcester County District Attorney’s Office and Shrewsbury police are continuing to investigate.
