Shrewsbury Man Dies in I-290 Car Crash

This morning,46-year-old Russell Eaton of Shrewsbury died in a one-car crash on I-290.

At 6:30 a.m. this morning, the State Police from Holden responded to a single-car crash on I-290 east in Northborough.

Russell Eaton, 46, of Shrewsbury was driving a 2004 GMC pickup truck on I-290 east at a high rate of speed when the car left the roadway and collided with a tree, according to a state police press release.

"The operator was pronounced dead a the scene," the press release said. "Subsequent investigation by troopers from the barracks and the State Police collision reconstruction specialists found no signs that Mr. Eaton applied his brakes."

The state police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident along with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.

The Northborough Fire Department and the State Medical Examiner's Office also assisted.

Traffic was backed up throughout the morning on I-290 after the crash and around the area as traffic was diverted.
