Shrewsbury Man Shot by Friend During NYE 'Game'

A Webster man was arraigned on Wednesday for shooting his friend.

A 24-year-old Shrewsbury man was in serious condition and is now recovering at UMass after his friend shot him during a "game" on New Year's Eve, the Worcester Telegram and Gazette reported.

Daniel G. Grenon of Webster was arraigned on Wednesday on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, six counts of improperly storing a firearm and improper storage of ammunition.

The shooting occurred after a "game" between Grenon and his best friend about whether a knife or gun could be drawn quicker, said the Telegram. Police responded to Grenon's apartment four minutes before midnight on New Year's Eve. Grenon works for Securitas Security in Westborough as a security guard.
