Police Log: Two Assault Arrests, Unattended Child

The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Dec. 6

9:12 a.m.: A caller reported loose tools falling off a pickup truck on Route 9 near Harrington Avenue.

10:59 a.m.: Three people were injured in a two-car crash on Hartford Turnpike at Valentine Drive. Both vehicles were towed.

5:15 p.m.: A resident went in to the Shrewsbury Police Department to report the theft of eyeglasses from Boston Turnpike.

5:34 p.m.: A caller from one of the businesses at 571 Boston Turnpike reported a shoplifting that just occurred. A suspect was later identified and was summonsed to court. The suspect was also issued a no trespass order.

7:20 p.m.: A caller from CVS reported a female and two males making threats. The officers that responded were familiar with the people. Eric Vanvleck, 36, of 36 Temple St., Worcester was arrested at the Worcester City Motel. Vanvleck was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

10:46 p.m.: Police stopped a vehicle on Tern Drive after it had been driving around the neighborhood slowly. A male was teaching his wife how to drive in the neighborhood.

Friday, Dec. 7

8:40 a.m.: A criminal application was issued for a driver after a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 at Elm Street. The vehicle was towed.

8:46 a.m.: An officer responded to a report of a young child walking near Audubon Drive. The officer reunited the child with their parent on O’Donnell Avenue.

10:59 a.m.: Corey Collins, 25, of 15 Walnut Hill Ln., was arrested after a caller reported an assault. Collins is charged with assaulting a man over the age of 60.

12:02 p.m.: A caller reported that his vehicle had been broken into within the last half hour at 160 Boston Turnpike.

3:05 p.m.: Two vehicles were towed after a crash on Main Street. No injuries were reported.

4:55 p.m.: A caller from Hawthorne Road reported a suspicious male in a black shirt that ran in to the woods. Officers were unable to find the male.

5:14 p.m.:  A vehicle crashed in to the curb near 171 Boston Turnpike.

6:31 p.m.: A male was taken to the hospital after overdosing on alcohol.

10:11 p.m.: An officer took a report of smashed windows to a location at Maple Avenue. No entry was gained in to the building.
