Police: Five Minors Arrested on New Year's Eve

The alcohol was discovered during a traffic stop.

New Year's Eve is known for a few things, new beginnings, the Times Square ball dropping and a champagne toast. For five people who were arrested after a traffic stop, however, the year started off behind bars

According to police reports an officer stopped a vehicle on South Street just before 9 p.m. after it was observed "acting suspiciously."

Four teens and one twenty-year-old were arrested during the stop when an officer found alcohol in the vehicle.

Zachary B. Burnham, 20, of 552 Main St., Brandon E. Lewis, 17, of 15 Gordon Rd., and a juvenile from Shrewsbury were arrested with Azure L. Jarrett, 18, of 77 Berlin St., Auburn and Elizabeth Kowalik, 17, of 10 Baker Rd., Westborough. 

All five were charged with minor in possession of alcohol. In addition Burnham, who was driving the vehicle, was charged with speeding.
