Nearly $3K in Restitution in Larceny Case

A larceny by check case was among those heard Thursday in Westborough District Court.

Thursday, Jan. 17

Thomas J. Reid,  69, of 2 Williamsburg Ct., Apt. 1, Shrewsbury, was arrested by Massachusetts State Police and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol (second offense) and speeding. Judge Robert Calagione released Reid on personal recognizance and scheduled a pretrial hearing for March 8. 

Ann M. Benoit, 39, of 249 Cambridge St., Worcester, was arrested by Shrewsbury police and charged with possession of a class B substance (subsequent offense). Judge Robert Calagione dismissed the charges at the request of prosecutors.

Anthony F. Melo, 31, of 4 Glen Rd., Apt. 528, Hudson, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Northborough police to face charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and no inspection sticker. Judge Robert Calagione found Melo guilty on the suspended license charge, ordering him to pay $500 in court costs, and not responsible on the sticker charge. 

Firas A. Zern, 33, of 25 Cutler St., Apt. 1, Worcester, was arrested by Shrewsbury police and charged with operating with a suspended license, a number plate violation, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and speeding. Judge Robert Calagione found Zern guilty of operating on a suspended license, ordering him to pay $600 in court costs. The number plate and uninsured charges were dismissed. Zern was found responsible on the remaining charges, which were filed.

Stephen Milioto, 19, of 311 Arbor Dr., Shrewsbury, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Shrewsbury police to face charges of larceny by check over $250. Judge Robert Calagione dismissed the charges upon payment of $2,607.68 in restitution to Delgreco Supply. 

Kenneth Maranda, 19, of 116 Upton St., Grafton, was summonsed to court on a complaint from Grafton police to face charges of operating an uninsured motor vehicle, a number plate violation, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. Judge Robert Calagione dismissed the first two charges upon payment of $250 in court costs and found Maranda not responsible on the unregistered motor vehicle charge. 

Nicholas P. Catachio, 19, of 74 Gage St., Apt. 3, Worcester, was arrested by Shrewsbury police and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speeding. Judge Robert Calagione released Catachio on personal recognizance and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Feb. 27. 

Jon M. Chahanovich, 31, of 149 Old Turnpike Rd., Quinebaug, CT, was arrested by Grafton police and charged with operating with a suspended license, using a motor vehicle without authorization, failure to drive in the right lane and speeding. Judge Robert Calagione released Chahanovich on personal recognizance and scheduled a pretrial hearing for Feb. 27.
