Man Arrested After Assault at Storage Facility, Rope Swings Removed From Lake

Arrests, July 6 through July 8

Saturday, July 6

Kenneth MacCartney, 28, of 222 Grafton St. was arrested and charged with possession of a class B substance.

Sunday, July 7

Joseph Liberty, 59, of 7 Elm St., Bellingham was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

Monday, July 8

Heidi J. Kannegieser, 53, of 235 Boston Trnpk. Apt. 113. Kannegieser was charged with shoplifting by asportation, obstruction of justice and eight warrant charges including shoplifting, conspiracy, larceny from a person, larceny by a single scheme, larceny from a person over 60, larceny by credit card and two counts of larceny under $250

Incidents, July 6 through July 8

Saturday, July 6

2:34 a.m.: While checking a suspicious vehicle on North Quinsigamond and officer spoke with two males. Kenneth MacCartney, 28, of 222 Grafton St. was arrested and charged with possession of a class B substance. A second male was taken into protective custody.

8:30 a.m.: Officers responded with the Shrewsbury Fire Department to Clinton Street for a two-car crash. Both vehicles were towed and both operators were taken to UMass Medical Center.

9:58 a.m.: Officers removed three rope swings from Coast Guard Island on Lake Quinsigamond.

10:22 a.m.: An officer on the Shrewsbury Police Department boat removed people from the Route 9 bridge.

4:11 p.m.: A caller from Price Chopper reported an earlier shoplifting.

10:07 p.m.: An officer advised residents of Norcross Street about the use of fireworks.

10:25 p.m.: Officers assisted a resident of Crescent Street who believed someone was inside her house.

Sunday, July 7

3:35 a.m.: Officers responded to a report of an assault in a storage unit at U Store It. Joseph Liberty, 59, of 7 Elm St., Bellingham was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

4:41 p.m.: A caller reported two youths inside the UMass Conference Center on Maple Avenue. An officer spoke with the two males and K9 Buzzy cleared the building.

Monday, July 8

5:27 a.m.: Officers responded to the Worcester City Motel and arrested Heidi J. Kannegieser, 53, of 235 Boston Trnpk. Apt. 113. Kannegieser was charged with shoplifting by asportation, obstruction of justice and eight warrant charges including shoplifting, conspiracy, larceny from a person, larceny by a single scheme, larceny from a person over 6, larceny by credit card and two counts of larceny under $250
