Heavy Fire Displaces Family on Salisbury

A fire started on a porch early Sunday morning.

Residents were displaced after a fire that engulfed a three-season porch and extended to the rest of the building at 12 Salisbury St. early Sunday morning.

Shrewsbury fire responded to a call shortly before 2 a.m. to the house on Salisbury, which is off Route 20 near Edgemere.

The three-season porch on the left side of the home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, said Fire Chief Jim Vuona.

The fire was knocked down shortly after 2 a.m.

Captain Sean Lawlor was the incident commander and investigated the fire along with the MA State Fire Marshal’s office. Westborough Fire Department responded to the scene to provide mutual aid, and Boylston and Northborough Fire Departments provided station coverage for headquarters and Station 2.

No injuries were reported, and residents were displaced due to damage and lack of electricity, said Vuona.

The cause is still under investigation.
