Georgia Man Charged with Murder of Shrewsbury Woman

Case has been an unsolved since 1974.

A sex offender in Georgia has been arrested and charged with the murder of Eileen Ferro of Shrewsbury, according to Fox 25 News.

Lonzo Guthrie Jr., 69, of Austill, GA, was arrested on Feb. 4, in connection with the case that has been unsolved for nearly four decades.

On Feb. 22, 1974, Ferro, then 21, was found stabbed multiple times in a utility room in her home on Ladyslipper Lane in Shrewsbury. She was a dental hygienist who grew up in Worcester, according to the Telegram & Gazette. State Police detectives have been working the case for a number of years.

According to online sex offender reports, Guthrie was convicted of rape by force, sodomy, on Oct. 15, 1974.
