Feeding Mother, Beetle Workers Prompt Police Calls

The following information was provided by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction. All arrests are reported.

Monday, Sept. 23

7:24 a.m.: Police responded to a two-car motor vehicle crash with no injuries at Routes 20 and 140. Lovey's towed two cars from the scene.

9:02 a.m.: A caller reported a suspicious car with New York plates on Westport Circle. Police responded, and found a woman in the backseat feeding a baby.

9:09 a.m.: A caller reported two suspicious people on Harvard Avenue. Police responded; they were Asian beetle workers.

11:36 a.m.: A caller reported a two car motor vehicle crash on Grafton Street. Two were taken to UMass and both vehicles were towed.

2:58 p.m.: Animal Control removed a squirrel from a fireplace on Hillando Drive.

3:51 p.m.: The Fire Department responded to a report of smoke at 34 Prospect St.

6:40 p.m.: The Fire Department responded for smoke in a basement at 2 Guinevere Cir.

7:28 p.m.: A caller from Plainfield Avenue and Pinedale Road said there was a suspicious man looking through the bushes at someone's house. Police responded and spoke to the person.

8:10 p.m.: A person went to the Police Department to report vandalism to his vehicle on Commons Drive.

Tuesday, Sept. 24

2:12 p.m.: A caller reported a breaking and entering on Green Street. Police responded.

3:19 p.m.: The Fire Department responded to Holt Street for burnt food on the stove.

9:37 p.m.: A caller from North Street said a suspicious man came to his door and asked if he had a jump pack because his car was broken down. Police responded and found the man's car had broken down.
