Case Continued For Man Found Hiding in Library

Samuel McGann has been ordered to stay away from the Shrewsbury Public Library.

A 19-year-old Shrewsbury man, charged with a variety of offenses last month after police found him hiding in the , saw his case continued without a finding this week in Westborough District Court.

Samuel A. McGann, 19, of 552 Main St., Apt. 2, Shrewsbury, was found hiding in the library at 12:05 a.m. March 26, about seven hours after the library had closed, according to police documents. He actively resisted arrest when officers attempted to take him into custody and his behavior created a risk to the key holder who responded because of his tumultuous behavior, according to police documents. Further investigation revealed he had broken into the depository bank bag and removed cash, according to police documents.

McGann was summonsed to court on a complaint March 26 by Shrewsbury police and Judge Vito Virzi dismissed the first five charges and amended the sixth charge to misdemeanor breaking and entering in the nighttime. He found sufficient facts and continued the case without a finding to April 26, 2013. McGann was ordered to seek a mental health evaluation and to stay away from the Shrewsbury library.
