Alleged Assault Leads to Major Drug, Gun Arrest for Shrewsbury PD

A Shrewsbury man was arrested over the weekend after police got a call for an assault.

Shrewsbury police arrested a 26-year-old Shrewsbury man on drug, gun and witness intimidation charges after being called to a North Quinsigamond Avenue home Saturday night.

Police Sgt. Alfred Pratt supplied the following account of the incident in a press release:  

On Saturday, Sep. 21, at 2:16 a.m., Shrewsbury Police responded to 122 North Quinsigamond Ave., Apt #3 for a well-being check. Shrewsbury Police had received information of a female party from that address had received injuries as a result of an assault. Officer Jason Palmatier responded to the address to check on the condition of the victim. As a result of the investigation the Shrewsbury Police made entry and discovered a male subject who lived there. Officers also discovered in plain view a large amount of marijuana along with large amount of psilocybin mushrooms. Also observed was a psilocybin mushroom cultivation system. The apartment was secured once it was determined the victim was not in the apartment.

As a result of the Officer’s discovery, Nicholas J. Perrone, 26, of 122 North Quinsigamond Ave., Shrewsbury, was arrested.  A search warrant was obtained. Detective Brian Thibodeau and a further search discovered three handguns in the apartment along with other drug cultivation and distribution equipment.

2.)   Poss. Class C Substance (Psilocybin Mushrooms)

3.)   Poss. Class C w/intent to Distribute

4.)   Poss. Class C w/intent to Manufacture

5.)   Poss. Class D w/intent to distribute

6.)   Firearm use in Felony

7.)   Firearm, Improperly Stored, Non-Large capacity (3 Cts.)

8.)   Firearm Carry Without License (3 Cts.)

9.)   Possession of Ammunition

10.) Witness Intimidate

Perrone was held at the Shrewsbury Police Department on $10,040 cash bail until Monday morning where he was transported to Westboro District Court for arraignment. The female victim was later discovered and did not cooperate with the investigation.
