Shrewsbury Selectmen Support Library Project

We members of the Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen ask you to join us in voting "Yes" on November 5th to approve the debt exclusion to fund the Library Building renovation/addition project.  With over 1,000 visits daily, it is clear that the Library is a flourishing, valued resource to Shrewsbury residents.   

The Building Committee has been diligent and responsible in its work, striking a balance between wants and needs and providing the best value to taxpayers.   The cost to repair/renovate the structural issues and aging systems in the existing library is $12.8 million dollars and will result in less usable space in order to meet current building compliance codes.  Thanks to the State grant and local fundraising efforts, the taxpayer share of costs for the proposed renovation/addition will not exceed $13.6 million. This additional investment provides the best value resulting in a building that combines flexible, practical function with a sound structural design to ensure a well built, sustainable asset to serve this community for many years.
