It's All About Raising and Saving Money

Patch's suggestions this weekend will help Haiti and help save you money. All, but one benefit event, are free this weekend.

1. Second Annual Concert for Haiti

Where/When: First Baptist Church (111 Park Ave., Worcester) on Sunday, April 17 from 3 to 6 p.m.

Why Go?: “From Broadway to the Met” starring Rochelle Bard will feature Nicole Bard Lian and Jacqueline Noparstak in this Second Annual Concert for Haiti. Songs will include American standards, Broadway classics and famous tunes from such shows as “Rent,” “Wicked,” “Showboat,” “Candide” and “La Boheme.”

Pricing: Adults for $20, students and seniors for $10 and children 12 and younger for $5.

2. New Voices 29

Where/When: WPI Little Theatre (100 Institute Rd., Worcester) on Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m., Friday, April 15 at 5 and 8 p.m., Saturday, April 16 at 7 p.m.

Why Go?: New Voices 29 the longest running consecutive collegiate theatre festival of original theatrical works in the United States. For additional information, e-mail alex.rock@wpi.edu.

3. Healthy Kids Day

Where/When:  (4 Valente Dr., Westborough) on Saturday, April 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go?: This annual event boasts field-day games, a kids' obstacle course, jumpy house, face painting, zumba and karate classes, cow-chip bingo, nature crafts and more. Entertainment will include an hour-long show by Mike The Bubble Man, “Holy in One” miniature golf by Holy Cow Ice Cream and storytelling by local author Carol Weis. The whole family will be inspired to live healthier and more active lives. This event is open to the public.

4. Grand Wine Tasting

Where/When: KJ Baaron's Fine Wine & Spirits Tasting Room
 (220 Summer St., Worcester) on Saturday, April 16 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Why Go?: This wine tasting event will have more than 100 wines for sample. In addition, there will be special beer and spirits tastings, free giveaways, chocolates, gourmet foods and cheese samples.

Pricing: Free and free valet parking.

5. Community Easter Egg Hunt and Fun Day to Benefit Local Food Banks

Where/When:  (160 Flanders Rd., Westborough) on Saturday, April 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go?: The hunt is on for 2,000 eggs. Enjoy hot dogs, snacks, a moon walk, face painting, crafts, games and much more. This festive event and its activities are free and open to communities surrounding Westborough. Attendees are asked to bring non-perishables for donation to local food banks, with the goal of collecting 2,000 pounds of food.
