Does the town care about the people?

This morning I woke up to no water at South and Main.

I understand that there is an ongoing upgrade, but no notice of no water is inexcusable. I called the water dept., and she said it was "up to the contractor" to notify me. I went to the work sight, and the head guy said "it was up to the water dept.".   ...so, someone is lying, simple as that.

... or someone dropped the ball... and there seems to be a lot of that going around.

The change over to gmail instead of townisp certainly wasn't planned out very well. I have been told/or read, that that change is more expensive(a help desk person); and complicated to those that aren't computer literate (a blog); and better for those that use mobile (testimony before the town selectman). I don't use mobile email, I just want to use email without google knowing about it, or having to change all my email accounts. Additionally, it is my opinion that the long term idea is that the town will eventually no longer have "townisp" email, ending support for that.

The issue with recent SELCO outages is inexcusable. According to the Community Advocate, Mr. Hale stated that part of the problem has to do with older cable in homes and older splitters. That may be true, but bad planning. If the town went to DC voltage, do I need to change all my appliances?  IMO, Maurice DePalo hit the nail on the head, asking about the boxes. The DTA's are several years old, and CISCO announced an end-of-life/end-of-sale for the set-top boxes last year.

There was a time when the town fathers cared about the people. Now, it's big business. Contracts with google, CISCO, and favorite developers digging up streets.
