Grafton — 
Malini Balakrishnan Mayerhauser, devoted wife and mother, died peacefully on August 3, 2013 at her home in North Grafton, Massachusetts with family at her side.
She dedicated her career to teaching science at the Edward Everett School in Dorchester. She married her college sweetheart, Jeffrey, and became a mother of two sons, Aedan and Jake. Malini spent the final years of her young life actively fundraising for several charities, hoping to help fund the cure for cancer through her inspiring efforts.

Northborough — Helen L. Petino, of Northborough, died Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility surrounded by her family. She was 101. 
 She was the past president of the St. Pius Altar Society, the Catholic Women's group and the Middlesex Chapter of AARP. She was the past treasurer and chairman of the Midstate Regional Committee on aging and a member of the advisory council of both the Salvation Army's Adult Day Care Center and the local Red Cross Chapter. She was also very active in the Girl Scouts organization.

Marlborough — Antonio  M. "Tony" Lopes, 70, died Thursday Aug 1 surrounded by his loving family after a short period of failing health.  He was the husband of Lucinda (Mesquita) Lopes to whom he was married for 37 years.  He was born in Lousa Portugal, the son of the late Joaquin and Aurea (Faustino) Lopes. 
He moved here after finishing his service in the National Army of Portugal.  Mr. Lopes was the owner and operator of the former Texaco Station in the Nobscot section of Framingham and also the former MC Automatic Transmission in Marlborough.  He was a long time member of the Framingham Portugese Club and coached in the Marlborough Youth Soccer League for many years.   

Grafton — Thomas E. Smith, 74, died August 1, 2013 at home from chronic respiratory problems.
Smith was born in Grafton May 18, 1939 the son of the late Elmer E. and Ida (Shore) Smith. He attended schools in Grafton and lived there until moving to Charlton over 20 years ago.

Marlborough — Linda M. (Phillips) Young, 71 of Franconia, New Hampshire, formerly of Marlboro, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in Shrewsbury Nursing Home after an illness. She was the daughter of the late J. Griffith Phillips and Margery M. (Evernham) Phillips. 
The most important thing in Linda's life was her family, especially her grandchildren; she was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being by the ocean, cooking, word puzzles, and playing card games with her companion.

Westborough — Lois E. (Battles) Roy ,94, died early Saturday morning at her home surrounded by her loving family
She worked for the Arlington public school system for over 30 years, retiring at 72 years old.  Mrs. Roy was a long time member of the Red Hot Squares and was an avid gardener. 

Shrewsbury — Capt. Kenneth L. Kniskern, US Navy (Ret) died peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Knollwood Nursing Center, Worcester. He was 87. He was born in Worcester in 1925 and was a long-time resident of Shrewsbury, MA. 
After spending a year at Northeastern University in a pre-legal course, the attraction of the sea lured him to apply for active duty with the U. S. Navy. During his 26 year career in the Navy, he achieved the rank of captain in 1968 and also served in the Korean War. Capt. Kniskern retired from the Navy in May 1972.

Marlborough — Marilyn (Phillips) Daniels, 63, of Hudson and formerly of Marlborough, died Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Marlborough Hospital after being stricken ill at home earlier Friday morning
Marilyn was an account representative at Staples for 10 years, retiring in 2011. Prior to that, she worked at Marlborough Hospital and Marlborough Orthopedics, both for many years. 

Natick — Carmella G. (Lattanzio) Vigue, age 77, a longtime Natick resident, died peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2013, at the Stanley R. Tippett Hospice Home in Needham. She was the loving mother of William K. Robbins of Ashland
Carmella was employed for many years as a Nurse’s Aide with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. A kindhearted lady and natural caregiver, Carmella enjoyed doting on her son Bill, reading, and the peace and quiet of her home.   

Marlborough — Joan C. (Kennedy) Maurice, 79, of Marlborough, died Thursday, August 1, 2013 at her home
A graduate of Clinton High School, she had been employed for a number of years at the former Braemoor Nursing Home ( Marlborough Hills HealthCare Center) as a nurse's aide.
