Shrewsbury is Worth the Investment- Vote YES Tuesday

When my family moved to Shrewsbury in 2008, it was by choice.  My story is not unique, and to many, I am part of the problem- another family that flocked to Shrewsbury for low taxes and great services.  What separates me from others is my decision to contribute to this community.  By involving myself as a PTO President, Town Meeting Member and Library Trustee, I have gained a greater understanding of how our town is managed.  Our elected and appointed officials are creative thinkers and long term planners.  Our Town Manager is skilled at keeping the town running with limited resources.  Our school and municipal employees possess a strong work ethic.  But everything and everyone has limits, and Shrewsbury is no exception.

The cracks are beginning to show.  Our streets are plowed, but the 1973 front loader used to remove the snow needs to be replaced.  When we dial 911 the police arrive, but do we have enough officers to provide back up in a true emergency?  There is learning going on inside Spring Street School, but when I arrive to volunteer the crumbling driveway is a reminder of the difficult choices made every year to prioritize funding in our town.

I am making a choice to vote YES on June 3rd because Shrewsbury is worth the investment.  The very essence of what makes Shrewsbury a great place to live will remain intact only if enough people join me in voting YES.  June 3rd will change the quality of life that we enjoy in Shrewsbury.  Our collective YES votes will ensure the change is for the better.
