Jacob M. Boudreau Wiffle Tournament This Weekend, Registration Still Open

Grab your yellow bats and practice your curve ball to help your team in this memorial tournament.

What's better: a Wiffle Ball tournament or fundraising for a scholarship in memory of a child who lost his life to cancer three years ago?

This weekend you don't need to decide if you participate in the Jacob M. Boudreau Memorial Scholarship Wiffle Ball Tournament.

Jacob Boudreau was just 12-years-old when he died in April, 2010 after a 7-year battle with Neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer.

"One gift Jake gave to his family and friends was hope, and our desire is for this scholarship to give a student a chance towards a better education and future," the Jacob Boudreau Memorial Fund website says.

The event organizers wanted to do something different to raise funds for the scholarship, so they went with something he lived.

"We discussed ideas of a golf tournament, or a 5K road race, but wanted an event that had a connection with Jake," the memorial fund website says. "We talked about how Jake liked to play Wiffle Ball, so we felt having a Wiffle Ball tournament was a great fit."

Registration for the tournament is underway online. Games begin Saturday, July 20 at 9 a.m. at the Coolidge Elementary School.
