Empowering Healthcare Consumers: A Community Conversation Conference Part II

This is the second Empowering Healthcare Consumers conference hosted by the Patrick Administration's Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation.  The conference will highlight price and information transparency tools consumers can use to take charge of their healthcare decision-making.

The conference will feature a discussion of key stakeholders moderated by renowned consumer reporter and advocate Susan Wornick and featuring a keynote speech by John Santa, Medical Director for Consumer Reports Health. The conference will also feature an interactive audience exercise that focuses on consumer attitudes toward healthcare prices and medical information.

Panelists include Patrick Muldoon, President of UMass Memorial Medical Center and Chair of the Massachusetts Hospital Association; Patrick Hughes, President & CEO of Fallon Community Health Plan; Dolores Mitchell, Executive Director of the Group Insurance Commission; Eric Schultz, President & CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care; David Morales, Senior VP of Steward Healthcare SystemArmin Ernst, MD, President & CEO of Reliant Medical Group; Barbara Anthony, Undersecretary of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, and others to discuss the status of price and information transparency in Massachusetts.

Welcome remarks to be given by Michael Collins, MD, Chancellor of University of Massachusetts Medical School; Timothy P. Murray, President & CEO of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce; and Gregory Bialecki, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development.
