Incumbents Win in Shrewsbury

Town sends familiar faces back to the Board of Selectmen and School Committee.

A little more than 4,000 voters went to the polls on May 6, and sent incumbents back into their positions representing the town of Shrewsbury.

In the Board of Selectmen’s race, Maurice DePalo and Henry Fitzgerald bested challenger Benjamin Tartaglia, both by better than two-to-one margins, according to published reports.

Both School Committee incumbents – Sandra Fryc and John Samia – were also sent back into their roles, besting challenger John Martin by more than two-to-one margins.

The full election results were not available at post time.

Four candidates are vying for three seats on the Board of Trustees of the Public Library: Mark Adler, Joan Barry, Kevin McKenna, and Frank Stille, and two candidates ran for a single, five-year seat on the Housing Authority: Paul Campaniello and John Medlinskas.

About 18 percent of the town’s voters participated in the election.
