For local dentist Dr. Todd Pizzi, dedication is key.
He balances running a busy practice and keeping on top of the most current trends in dentistry with time for his wife and three daughters and the rigorous training necessary for competitive running.
Pizzi opened his Shrewsbury practice, Modern Dentistry, in August of 2001. Originally from Franklin, MA, he was drawn to Shrewsbury because he felt at home here.
“The town is well-run, the community is close-knit, and you can get anything you need within a 5-minute drive,” he said. “I like the accessibility to places like Boston, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and New York.”
Modern Dentistry is a family, cosmetic and implant dental practice that emphasizes the most current technology and practices available. Pizzi offers services like pediatric dentistry, teeth whitening and Invisalign teeth straightening, and he strives to make dental care a relaxing and positive experience for all of his patients.
“The thing that is most important to me is keeping current with the latest information available to the dental industry,” Pizzi said about the philosophy behind his successful practice. “This is the reason that I spend money investing in continuing education every single year.”
Pizzi attends several conferences each year and brings new found knowledge and practices to his patients.
Pizzi’s dedication to his goals is also evident in a passion that began in 2004, when on a dare from one of his dental school friends, he ran his first marathon. After running several more, he decided to challenge himself and with the support of his family, he started training for an Ironman competition.
In all, Pizzi has completed nine marathons and four Ironman competitions. It’s this competitive spirit and drive to excel that has led to Pizzi’s commitment to maintaining a high standard of excellence—the cornerstone of his practice.
“At the end of the day, I’m happy that people know that we’re friendly and have a nice facility, but what matters most to me is that they know I’m competent.”
