5 Things: Blood Drive, School Open Houses

School open houses are being held today.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. An will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the . Donors will receive a coupon for a free container of Turkey Hill Iced Tea and can register to win Red Sox Tickets. Walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-REDCROSS or visit redcrossblood.org. Bring a positive ID.

2. The Retirement Board will meet at 7:30 a.m. today at , 100 Maple Ave.

3. The World War I Monument Committee will meet at 7 p.m. today at Shrewsbury Town Hall.

4. Those who live or work in the Worcester region are being asked to take a Regional Health Assessment Survey by Aug. 31. The information gathered will be used to inform future programming and services. For more information, click here.

5. The PTO is hosting an Open House from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today for new and returning students. is also holding open houses today, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. for new Shrewsbury students and from 3:30 to 5 p.m. for all students.
